Prof. Asim Tewari – Professor, Center for Machine Intelligence & Data Science (C-MInDS), and Department of Mechanical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay
Prof. Asim Tewari graduated with a B.Tech degree from IIT Kanpur, India and PhD from Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, USA. After his doctorate he was briefly with National Aerospace Laboratories. Subsequently, he joined IIT Kanpur where he served as assistant professor for over 3 years before joining General Motors Global R&D center in Bangalore. At General Motors he has been instrumental in setting up a state-of-the-art characterization laboratory.
His Research Interests: Internet of Things – Product Development, Smart Manufacturing, “Big Data” in Manufacturing, Application of artificial intelligence and machine learning in industrial problems, Modeling and machining of ‘difficult to machine’ materials, Additive Manufacturing – Algorithms, 3D Microscopy and Stereology, Image analysis, Deep Learning for image segmentation, Advanced morphological and crystallographic characterization .
